abstract="The use of Simulation/Numerical Analysis Software in vehicle engineering increases rapidly. So, the question of liability for defective Simulation/Numerical Analysis Software increases as well. Defects may have disastrous impacts on the OEM as well as on their suppliers: Not only may defective products cause personal deaths or injuries, but they may also result in recall actions, producing high costs and resulting in heavy burden on the image of all the companies involved. Since we all know that the risks involved in a legal conflict regarding product liability are more than costly, it is with no doubt advisable to treat the subject matter of defective simulation/numerical analysis software with utmost care. In our presentation we point out what can, shall and/or must be done in terms of law to be as much on the safe side as possible: For example, is it mandatory to comply with all existing safety technical requirements such as the ones contained in IEC61508? Additionally, we present legal measures for the fulfilment of the organizational and due diligence obligations. <p>Language: en</p>",
