abstract="We read the Article by Marie-Claude Geoffroy and colleagues with great interest. In their systematic review and meta-analysis, the pooled prevalence estimate was 7·5% (95% CI 5·9-9·6) for suicidal ideation and 2·0% (0·8-4·9) for all self-harm behaviours in children aged 12 years or younger. However, one additional study should be included. Chiang and colleagues found that the prevalence of suicidal ideation in fourth graders (aged around 9-10 years) was 6·2%: these data could have been included in the meta-analysis. Future studies should consider the correlates of suicide and targeted intervention, and develop effective preventive measures for suicide in children<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
