abstract="The rehearsal of aggressive scripts is common among violent offenders and associated with an increased propensity for violent behavior. However, few dedicated treatment practices aimed at reducing aggressive script rehearsal have been developed or tested. Consequently, violent offender treatment programs typically neglect this important risk factor. This narrative review considers treatment options for aggressive script rehearsal by critiquing approaches and protocols that have been developed and tested for conceptually related phenomena, including fantasy, intrusive thoughts, and rumination. At the completion of this review we propose some treatment strategies that might be incorporated into more comprehensive violent offender treatments so that the rehearsal of aggressive scripts is not neglected.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>",
