abstract="Euro-zone is consisting by 19 countries with different developmental and economic characteristics. During the first years of the 21st century several of them underwent a rapid economic and social crisis while others, like Germany, exhibited steadily economic and social growth. The scope of this article is to compare the mortality experience of these countries using the last available data which correspond to the years 2016 and 2015. The method used is a combination of a modified Heligman-Pollard procedure in addition with three cubic splines for the smoothing of the q(x) life tables distribution and the estimation of several parameters. Among them is modal age at death, Kannisto's indicators and others in order to find some important features of a life table's dx curve. Also, life expectancy at birth and other ages and the causes of death were studied. A cluster analysis was applied at last.

RESULTS indicate the existence of significant differences among the countries studied.

Language: en
",
