abstract="Continuing a years-long upward trend, the proportion of US adults aged 35 to 50 years who reported binge drinking reached a &quot;historic&quot; high in 2022, with almost a third of people stating that they had consumed 5 or more drinks in a row in the past 2 weeks. Use of other substances, such as marijuana and hallucinogens, also increased among midlife adults compared with previous years, according to a National Institute on Drug Abuse report that included survey responses from 5450 people.
