abstract="A new traffic control system has been developed for controlling the speed of vehicles. A system of slotted protuberances (bumps) accomplishes this goal as well as having a positive effect on traffic parameters such as channelisation, overtaking, the distance between vehicles, vehicles travelling in the wrong direction, and pedestrian safety. The system is composed of three parallel lines of protuberances with openings in each line. The zigzag path formed in this way allows vehicles not exceeding the designated speed limit to pass without crossing the protuberances. The system was installed in the King Faud University campus, and the results of this study are reported. A large decrease in traffic accidents, and more responsible driver behaviour generally, was observed compared to previous data with speed bumps. <p>Language: en</p>",
