abstract="This paper discusses some trends of the problem of traffic accidents in Kuwait. Using data from different sources, the changes in car ownership, together with traffic accidents and casualty rates over the last ten years, were studied. Comparing the death rates with several countries, Kuwait was found to have one of the highest death rates and the age distribution of facilities revealed that most of the victims belong to the 15-24 age group. An attempt was made to cost traffic accidents in Kuwait. The study for 1982 accidents was based on data from major insurance companies. The costs per property damage accident, per injury accident and per fatality accident were computed. The cost of medical treatment, the loss in output and insurance values paid were also calculated and added to the total cost. The results show a total cost of about A635m (U. S. 380m) which comprises 2 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product of the country. <p>Language: en</p>",
