abstract="A survey of the regulatory and warning signs of eight Melbourne city councils was carried out to assess their compliance with the sign placing recommendations in the Australian Standard AS 1742 and the relevant Victorian Standards. The survey included such features as location, condition and visibility of the sign; whether the sign was a standard one and, if a warning sign, whether it was redundant. It was found that all councils had a high degree of non-conformity with the Standards. There was no difference between councils rated high and low in socio-economic status, but there was some difference between inner and outer councils. <p>Language: en</p>",
