abstract="Whenever a corpse is discovered under unclear circumstances, the course of events has to be reconstructed. In the presence of changes due to putrefaction and insect colonization, entomological expertise can help to estimate the time since death. We present the case of two corpses found within a short time interval but in différent stages of putrefaction, both showing multiple stab wounds to the chest. The question was whether this was a double homicide or a murder-suicide. The evaluation of the insect populations found on both bodies revealed that the earliest possible time of death of the first person found dead had to be at least the day before the earliest possible time of death of the person found later.
