abstract="This study aims to investigate the predictors of suicidal intention focusing on depression and economic activity status in 3,254 subjects of the elderly population in poverty (i.e., less than 60% of middle income level) according to 10th year data from the Korea Welfare Panel 2015, and to understand the differences in impact between the sexes. The following is a summary of the study results for discussion. The ratio of the elderly population to consider suicide seriously in the last year was low, 4.6%. The score of depression was 1.70 points, lower than the mean value of 2.5. Depression was shown to be the most influential factor for suicidal thoughts among the elderly population in poverty, followed by age, marital status, and occupational satisfaction. There was a difference between the sexes in regards to the predictors of suicidal intention in the elderly in poverty. Except for the significant common predictors, occupational satisfaction and marital status were the primary predictors of suicidal intention in males and females, respectively. © 2017 International Information Institute.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
