abstract="Based on a case history, a palliative care support team analyses the psychological effect on a patient from Mali after he was told he was seriously ill. Breaking the news without preparation was shattering to the patient, and drove him to attempt suicide. Our analysis shows that a psychological lapse of time is necessary, so that both patient and the team can work out a project for the future taking the illness into account. This support is developed according to a holistic approach, taking into consideration the patient's symptomatic and psychological problems as well as the sociocultural aspect of his life.<p /><p>Language: fr</p>",
