abstract="The diagnosis of borderline personality disorder(BPD) is a distinct risk factor for suicidal, parasuicidal and self-injurious behavior (SIB). The risk is even increased by comorbidity (e.g. major depression, anxiety disorder, additional personality disorder). Parasuicidal acts and SIB within borderline pathology is regarded as an efficient method for termination of excessive emotional tumoil as part of pathogenic emotional dysregulation. Impulsivity and its consequences is understood in context of serotonin neurotransmitter system hypoactivity within a biopsychosocial framework. Dialectical behavior therapy is a most efficient treatment for chronically suicidal borderline patients.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
