abstract="In this article literature on characteristics of juvenile suicide attempters is reviewed, and possibilities for preventive interventions is inventoried. A meta-analysis of randomized trials to assess the effectiveness of psychosocial treatment on repetition rate of suicide attempts revealed that two out of twelve studies showed a small positive effect. Based on these two studies a randomized clinical trial was set up focusing on intensive psychosocial intervention. This psychological intervention was compared to treatment as usual, and all patients (n = 274) were followed-up over a one year period after the index suicide attempt. Kaplan-Meyers survival analysis showed no significant differences between the two treatment approaches. Possibilities for future research are discussed. © Hogrefe-Verlag, Göttingen 2004.<p /><p>Language: de</p>",
