abstract="It is usually allowed that the prevalence of suicide is not significant in the Negro-african societies. However, the conditions of economic development of the concerned countries and in particular Côte-d'Ivoire, suggest a possible increase in this phenomenon. To confirm this hypothesis, a retrospective study of a sample of 2084 deaths registered over 3 years (1999-2001) was carried out. Violent deaths represented 22% of the sample among which the proportion of suicides amounted to 4.36% while it represented only 0.96% of the total of all deaths registered over this period. Hanging was the means the most used by a population for the most part not of Ivory Coast African origin. This study allowed us to know certain epidemiological aspects of these suicides and to identify the obstacles in their diagnosis.<p /><p>Language: fr</p>",
