abstract="It has been pointed out that communication on the Internet comprises possibility to develop maladjustment and social isolation with Pathological Internet Use (PIU). In addition, communication on the Internet can be more disinhibiting than face-to-face communication. &quot;Flaming&quot;, an intense quarrel often happens on the Internet, and there is a case in which one committed physical assault due to dissociative state caused by flaming. In Japan, it is frequently observed that those who have psychopathological problems post warnings of crime on message boards on the Internet. Among these, some even intend to be arrested and to face legal punishment as well as to get a lot of attention. This can be thought to be what K. Meninger called &quot;an indirect suicide&quot; in a broad sense.
