abstract="We report two cases of caustic injuries of the pharyngolarynx. Case 1 was a 57-year-old male who ingested caustic soda for attempting suicide. Scar formation of the pharyngolarynx gradually progressed, and the patient underwent tracheostomy to relieve dyspnea approximately three months after the ingestion of caustic soda. Case 2 was a 56-year-old male who accidentally ingested caustic soda and exhibited transient laryngeal edema. Long-term observation of clinical course would be mandatory in severe cases of caustic pharyngolaryngitis.<p /><p>Language: ja</p>",
