abstract="Self-harm is one of the methods to cope with emotional tension in adolescence. Self-injuries discharge many functions among young people. Authors point out self-harms connected to psychopathology: anxiety disorders (including PTSD), depression, dissociative disorder, borderline personality disorder, antisocial personality, eating disorders. One of the risk factors of self-injuries among adolescents is sexual abuse. Sexual abuse victims more frequently suffer from eating and mood disorders. In this article is presented the case study of a psychiatric patient hospitalised in Youth Ward in Department of Developmental, Psychotic and Geriatric Psychiatry on Medical University of Gdańsk. For the first time she entered Clinic because of fainting - recognised dissociation disorder and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD syndrome). For the second time she entered because of medicine intoxication with intention to commit suicide. During childhood and adolescence she was sexually abused by her father addicted to alcohol. This article emphasize the patient's family system functioning, the self -harm's functions and victim's coping with stressors.<p /><p>Language: pl</p>",
