abstract="A 19-year-old woman being treated for type 2 diabetes mellitus attempted suicide on February 7, 2006 by subcutaneously injecting herself with approximately 300 U of insulin lispro. After the overdose, she drank juice cantaining sugar till she arrived at the hospital. On arrival her serum glucose level was 60 mg/dl, and her IRI level was 3,365 μU/ml. Intravenous dextrose administration was required for about 12 hours to maintain the blood glucose concentration normal range.
