abstract="It is widely known the high frequency of certain psychiatric disorders related to the treatment for hepatitis C, however, the occurrence of suicidal ideation and suicide attempt is lesser known, being described as &quot;rare&quot; adverse reactions. We describe the case of an autolytic attempt in a patient undergoing treatment for hepatitis C, given the extreme severity and the infrequency of such a type of events. He is a 52-year old male with chronic hepatopathy by C-1b virus that began treatment with peginterferon alpha-2a and ribavirin, with a background of depressive disorders controlled by medication. At week 12 of treatment, the patient ingested 30 pills of 1 mg Lorazepam with autolytic purposes. After he was taken to the emergency services, he was admitted to the Mental Health Services, where he remained 4 days until favorable evolution with no suicidal desires, because of which he was discharged. This clinical case provides a reflection upon existing recommendations regarding the mechanisms used in the treatment for hepatitis C in reference to depressive/psychiatric disorders.<p /><p>Language: es</p>",
