abstract="The 48-year-old woman was found unresponsive and hypotensive with broad QRS, assuming an attempted suicide with Class I antiarrhythmic drugs. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and advanced life support were sustained for 90 minutes. Following intravenous hypertonic saline and sodium bicarbonate the patients QRS narrowed and haemodynamics could be restored. Flecainide intoxication was approved by elevated serum level. The patient survived without neurological sequelae. Intoxication with Class I antiarrhythmic drugs should be considered in cases of cardiogenic shock with broad QRS-ecg. Additional treatment with hypertonic saline and/or sodium bicarbonate could help to stabilize heart rhythm and haemodynamics. © Georg Thieme Verlag KG Stuttgart New York.<p /><p>Language: de</p>",
