abstract="Body image is what a person has drawn on his mind the figure of his body, this self-image depends in many ways self-esteem and self-concept. The face appears as the letter of any individual, and changes it suffers, amend the self-image. In the patient population suffering from some cancers involving the face, most often, treatment is surgery followed and although no doubt about the need for it, the psychological consequences of these procedures often lead to depression, anxiety, social isolation, social rejection, sexual dysfunction, in some cases suicide. From a psychological perspective the process of adaptation to facial deformity is a challenge because it requires the patient to develop skills that can have major consequences for the rest of his life. The face serves as a means of communication to others. Additional important to consider the social emphasis is given to the physical attributes which imposes additional burdens on people who have some type of facial deformity. The psychologist's work is important in the care of these patients, as it affects the patient's adaptation process has been subjected to crippling or disfiguring surgery, which compromise the structure and function of a body part and even more surgeries head and neck. Due to the above is to know which areas have been investigated and accordingly, make proposals for action, which significantly improve the quality of life of patients with these characteristics.<p /><p>Language: es</p>",
