abstract="BACKGROUND: Despite the increasing trend of attempted suicides in the Security Forces (SF), there is a paucity of Indian publications in this field. <br><br>AIM: To determine the socio-demographic and clinical profile of attempted suicide patients admitted in SF hospitals. <br><br>METHOD: Analysis of socio-demographic and clinical characteristicsof attempted suicide patients admitted to SF hospitals over the past decade. <br><br>CONCLUSION: Non-service related factors seemed to be the immediate precipitating factors for attempted suicide in a majority of service personnel.
