abstract="This article analyzes separately for both, genders and different family structures, whether parenting practices influence deviant behaviour. The particular focus will be on three parenting practices: parental affection, parental supervision, and parental violence. Analyses are performed by group comparisons and binary-logistic regressions. To test different hypotheses a dataset of almost 32,000 German adolescents from the 9th grade is used. <br><br>RESULTS show that parental supervision prevent all forms of deviant behaviour; in contrast, parental violence is an important risk factor. Adolescents from families without both natural parents are significantly more violent and show a higher number of suicide attemps. Furthermore, step-parent families can be classified as particularly difficult. Regarding gender it could be revealed that female adolescents are more affected by family dissolutions than male adolescents. Implications of the findings for research and professional practice are discussed.<p /><p>Language: de</p>",
