abstract="The point of departure of our reflection is the observation that Europe is in a crisis that is primarily a crisis of the individual and his place in society. Our continent has been marked by rising individualism, which expresses itself on the level of religion as secularization and secularism. When comparing Christianity and Islam, one can discover that the degree of secularization is related to interpretation of the Divine revelation. Islam, which does not allow any interpretation of the Quran, does not manifest secularization to the same extent as Christianity does, where the faithful are allowed to interpret the Bible. Europe has accepted Christian values, but refuses the faith in God, which invites the question whether Christian values are able to survive without contact with their transcendental foundation. It would seem that "the refusal of God" equals not only the dissolution of religion but also the suicide of Western civilization.

Language: sk
",
