abstract="In the Declamation XXVIII Libanius presents a parasite that exposes the misfortunes that have led him to address the Council and ask for poison to commit suicide. The author constructs his personage on the basis of the parasite type&#39;s features used in Comedy. He also adds mythological motives and terms from the vocabulary of Tragedy, which serve to accentuate the ridiculousness of the situation exposed by the protagonist. The result is an absurd speech, artistically elaborated especially with the intention of entertaining.<p /><p>Language: en</p>",
