abstract="We present a quantitative study on people with suicidal behavior, it evaluated 176 patients to mental health consultants, diagnosed with mood disorder, bipolar disorder and adjustment disorder. It investigated about the perception that the evaluated patients had about early parental care, as they remembered to age 16. The results show that the negligence in the care and control, would be related to a higher probability to commit a severe suicide attempt by the child. This association is particularly clear with the father figure. Also, the kind of pater-nal bond that favors the parental control over the kids, even if it presents low levels of care, it's associated to a lower risk of committing suicide or less severe suicide attempts. The role of maternal care would have a protective role of suicide risk. This findings open important questions about the necessity of studying the protective and risk factors on the biography of the patients with suicidal risk. Also, this investigation invite us to keep on studying this factors, to corroborate this findings and to achieve a better understanding of them. © 2014, Fundacion para el Avance de la Psicologia.
