abstract="This article is the first of a two-part series that describes several methods for measuring vehicle crush. In this part, close-range photogrammetry, laser and manual (spreadsheet) methods are presented. Since each of these measurement methods can meet the goal of accurately reproducing vehicular damage and comparing it to the original vehicular specification, the preferred methodology is a matter of choice. However, whatever method is chosen, it is crucial to accurately collect data so that a scaled, detailed diagram can be created. It is also essential to measure the damage and then apply it correctly to acceptable formulas.<p />",
