abstract="In the current debate on euthanasia there are two opposing views. Representatives of the first view emphasize the individual's right to determine the time and circumstances of one's death autonomously. This could possibly include such controversial acts as killing on demand, physician assisted suicide or state delivery of lethal drugs. Representatives of the other view reject these acts as unethical. Instead they refer to the normative concept of a natural death. According to this concept seriously ill and dying patients should be provided with comprehensive psychological, social and palliative care while all forms of killing are excluded. © 2018 Schwabenverlag AG.
