abstract="This article reviews significant advances in our knowledge of mental health in transgender adolescents over the past 5 years, highlighting the most clinically relevant topics. Psychological phenomena and conditions discussed in detail include autism spectrum disorder, eating disorders, non-suicidal self-injury, and suicide. Also described are depression, anxiety, trauma, and comorbidities for transgender adolescents, and interventions that ameliorate or prevent these conditions. Future research is needed, including studies of non-binary youth and longitudinal treatment outcome studies, to inform evidence-based clinical care for transgender youth.
