abstract="In 1961, Max Aub published flash fictions under the title "De suicidios" in Revista de la Universidad de México. Subsequently, these fictions were included in future editions of Crímenes ejemplares. Several "suicides" have been illustrated and turned into comic strips. Some emphasize the absurd and metaphoric aspects of language which are intrinsic to these fictions. Others reveal the indétermination that arises when the stories are so condensed. Most of these visual readings reinforce a desacralizing quality, a laughter in the face of death. Hence, these visual readings expand the texts' potential meanings; for this reason, they constitute autonomous works of art. © 2018 Revista Canadiense de Estudios Hispanicos.
