abstract="This report describes the Onboard Monitoring and Reporting for Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety project in which a prototype hardware suite was developed and tested for Freightliner Century Class truck. The On-board Monitoring System (OBMS) suite allows for measuring online a set of driving characteristics, such as speed, following distance, lane keeping perfo9rmance, safety belt use, and turn signals use. These charactersitics can be viewed as indicators of unsafe driving behavior. Feedback can be provided to the driver, either through direct real time feedback or through carrier management. The objective is to enable drivers to significantly improve and maintain their safety performance.
UCB-ITS-PRR-D2007-18, February 2007 [Online version has updates]

Available: http://128.32.129.43/reports/index.cgi?reqtype=displayrecord&record=300

Language: en
",
