abstract="The author discusses the crucial element in road safety intervention, accident data, as well as accident investigation in Germany, including accident commission procedures for countermeasure identification at frequent accident sites while using accident data. In regard to accidents, typology, diagrams, data assessment, and accident investigation methods are discussed. Road safety experts generally agree that in road accidents and related consequences, the key causal factor is the human element. On the road, vehicle movement is basically determined by drivers, who must adapt their behavior, in accordance with their relative health, and their driving skills, to weather, traffic, and road surface conditions, as well as to existing traffic regulations. It is known that human behavior is influenced by a myriad of elements related to the perception of actual traffic and road conditions, current psychical and physical states, skills and experience, and individual features and abilities. Relevant related data is crucial if road safety is to be improved.<p />",
