abstract="This work analyzes the similarities and divergences between acedia, as approached by Evagrio Ponticus (345-399), and noogenic neurosis, as addressed by the Viennese psychiatrist Viktor Emil Frankl (1905-1997). Both acedia and noogenic neurosis describe a negative cognitive, emotional, and motivational state characterized by existential discontent, a flight from reality and search for new sensations, sadness, hopelessness, and, ultimately, even suicide. Acedia and noogenic neurosis are briefly described. Then, their similarities and differences are analyzed and discussed, focusing on their possible therapeutic influence. The work ends with some reflections on the acedia in contemporary society. © 2020 Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra. All rights reserved.<p /><p>Language: es</p>",
