abstract="This article presents two unusual cases of penetrating head injuries carried out by another person by means of electric power drills. Such procedures are an extreme rarity as homicidal or attempted homicidal attacks. Some descriptions involve suicides, suicide attempts or accidental injuries using electric power drills. In the case of a 47-year-old man, the victim was stabbed through the ear into the skull with a disconnected power drill while sleeping by his divorced ex-wife. The man survived the attack. The other case involved an altercation between two young men, whereby first knife wounds and then drilling injuries were inflicted by the perpetrator. During the autopsy three drilling wound canals, which ran through the left eye into the skull could be determined.
