abstract="Hamition Rating scale for depression [HRSD] was applied to 120 Egyptian major depressive patients. Mean total HRSD score was found to be 30.3 [ +/- 5.62]. The most frequent symptoms reported were depressed mood, limitation of work and activities, anxiety-psychic, and somatic symptoms-GIT. The opinion of Egyptian psychiatrists was sought as to the appropriateness of HRSD items as applied to Egyptian major depressive patients.
