abstract="A case of self-inflicted laryngeal injury in a suicide attempt was reported. A 36-yearold male with atypical psychosis cut his own throat. Although the thyroid cartilage was cut horizontally, the esophagus and vessels were intact. An intubation through the open woundto trachea was performed. After the inferior tracheotomy, wire suture of thyroid cartilage without stent was done to preserve his larynx. As a result, he had slight hoarseness and psychological signs, so medical and psychological management was not avoidable. © 1992, The Society of Practical Otolaryngology.
