abstract="There is a growing evidence that stressful life events correlate positively with suicide attempts (SA), which happen in response to stress. Thus, scientific literature on SA consider suicide and life threatening behaviour as a reaction to stress as reflected in the description of SA as 'a cry for help'. The aetiological role of stressful life events in AS is not clear yet, but attempters experiment a greater amount of negative life events in the month previous to a SA. The fact that remote life events (early parental loss, broken homes, marked dysfunction in family dynamics, etc.) are related with a higher percentage of personality disorders and with SA in adult life should be stressed. In this paper the relevant role played by stressful life events in the appearance of SA is considered.<p /><p>Language: es</p>",
