abstract="Psychiatric assessment was carried out on 95 patients who were referred following attempted suicide. Forty eight patients were living in an urban area, and forty seven patients were living in a rural area of Co. Louth, Republic of Ireland. Suicide attempters were found to be less integrated into community life and were mostly unemployed.
