abstract="Assessing suicidal potential in the setting of psychiatric emergencies is triple. First the risk factors predisposing to the acting out are to be taken into account (depression, addictive disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, previous history of suicide attempts). Secondly emergency factors immediately preceding the suicidal act (presence of active suicidal ideas and suicidal scenario) and thirdly dangerousness factors (lethality and accessibility of the means) are important to be detected.
