abstract="Recent warnings from the pharmaceutical industry have raised concerns about both the efficacy and safety of antidepressants medications in children and youth. The warnings have also led to the increased public availability of both published and unpublished clinical trials data about antidepressants in youth. With the barrage of information many clinicians are struggling to understand and interpret what these warnings and label changes may mean for their individual practices and patients. Therefore, this article will provide a synopsis of the currently available data on the efficacy and safety of antidepressants in youth with depression and some suggestions of how clinicians may wish to incorporate this new information into their practices. Recent analyses of antidepressant trials have suggested a link between antidepressants and suicidal thinking and behavior in children and adolescents with depression or other psychiatric disorders. Families and patient need to be fully informed about the possible risks associated with the use of antidepressants.   <p>Language: en</p>",
