abstract="Studied the efficacy of trazodone vs diazepam in the prevention of suicidal behavior. Human Ss: 15 male and female Italian adolescents and adults (aged 16-65 yrs) (suicide attempt) (trazodone). 14 male and female adolescents and adults (aged 16-65 yrs) (diazepam). Data on sociodemographic variables, psychological symptoms, and suicidal ideation were obtained by semistructured interview. The results were evaluated according to age, suicidal ideation, attitude toward suicide, depressive symptoms, and side effects. Tests used: The Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression, the Brief Symptom Inventory, the Suicide Attitude Questionnaire (D. De Leo et al, 1989), and the Pierce Intent Score Scale (D. W. Pierce, 1981).
