abstract="10% of the children and teenagers with intellectual disability develop self-injurious behavior during lifespan. The causes for this are investigated, often various and reach from learn-theoretical up to neurobiological conditions. The available work gives overview of the current state of research to the etiology, further factors of influence as well as the process of self-injurious behavior by intellectual disability.
