abstract="Suicide occurs 20.4 times more frequently in patients with major depression than in the general population. About 60% of the approximately 11,000 deaths from suicide each year in France occur in people with major depression. Assessment of suicide risk is one of the most challenging and important task for the clinician to continually perfect. According to the French consensus conference on the topic of the suicidal crisis, the assessment process includes the risk, the emergency and the dangerousness. The 8 steps of the crisis intervention are described.
