abstract="This paper describes the design and preliminary test of concepts for a dummy head incorporating load-sensing elements capable of evaluating facial bone fracture hazard by measurement of localized forces on nasal, zygoma, maxilla, and mandible areas of the face in dynamic frontal loadings, yielding a force-time history for each region of interest. The device can be rugged enough for repeated use, and is comparable with other dummy uses. The design and preliminary testing of the face-force prototype headform concept is described.<p />",
