abstract="Important unanswered questions remain about the crash risk of drivers with medical conditions and how to develop terminology and patient/driver review procedures that will meet needs simultaneously of physicians and their patients and of Departments of Motor Vehicles and the driving public. This paper considers: a) Appropriateness of different driving groups as comparison populations for drivers with medical conditions, and unstated assumptions and policies that guide current licensing procedures. b) Issues relevant to defining severity among drivers with medical conditions, and c) How do persons with heart disease actually deal with transportation during the first few months after being hospitalized.<p />",
