abstract="We are just beginning to see reports of studies concerning the safety of automobile occupants in collisions, comparing those with and without seat belts. Injuries directly attributable to restraining belts are becoming more numerous. With increasing use of restraining devices for passengers in automobiles, injuries on account of seat belts can be expected more frequently. This paper reports injuries to two occupants, each wearing a three-point cominbation lap and diagonal belt. One occupant was injured critically, suffering rib fractures and ruptured spleen. This paper appears to be the first report of splenic rupture using a three-point lap-dianonal belt.<p />",
