abstract="During the past decade legislation has become one of the major weapons in the battle against discrimination. Dozens of states now have anti-discrimination laws, most of them of recent origin. Experience and analysis indicate that this is a useful technique, although not a perfect one, for reducing discrimination; and the indications are that the success of the present laws will result in more such legislation in the future.<p />",
