abstract="In a combat fighter squadron it was found that the class differences of civilian society were unimportant in determining status. The adjustment of individuals to the squadron resulted a social system in which status, leadership, clique participation, and value system were based upon criteria different from those found in civilian communities. The explanation of the differences is found in the integration of informal organization around the function or master-activity.<p />",
