The results of many studies on gender-based violence at school reflect the high vulnerability of girls who are the primary victims of sexual assault, sexual and genderbased harassment and sexual exploitation (UNESCO et ONU-Femmes, 2017; UNESCO, 2015, 2014; UNICEF, 2013; Mimche & Tanang, 2013; OMS, 2002; Plan 2014, 2013, 2012; Devers et al., 2012; Dagou et Goin Bi, 2015; Antonowicz 2010; Benabdallah, 2010; UNICEF, 2008). We want to understand how the educational communities are mobilizing in the face of this violence to make school and its surroundings safe, secure and free of discrimination for all students in Sub-Saharan African countries. The literature review identified actions recommendations and various initiatives mobilized in some countries to combat such persistent violence. Collaborating with and engaging with key stakeholders is essential for the transformation of individual behaviors and gender relations. This article highlights promising practices and recommendations of useful tools that can be adapted for application in other contexts.
