%X This paper presents an overview of road accidents in India from 1997 to 2007. It reports that road traffic fatalities have been increasing annually at a rate of eight percent during this time period. The paper includes statistics for motor vehicle registrations, vehicle sales, and road traffic fatalities. Crash patterns are examined by road user category, age and gender, and time of day.<p />
